Christian County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for Operations Assistant. This position will be reporting directly to the Operations Division Commander and to the Sheriff of Christian County. The Operations Assistant provides administrative support to the Operations Division. The Operations Assistant serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the Operations Division of the Christian County Sheriff’s Office. The Operations Assistant also serves as a liaison to vendors, private organizations, and other Federal, State, and local government agencies. The Operations Assistant assist with project management; organizes, and coordinates outreach and external relations efforts, and assist with special projects including grants. The Operations Assistant must be creative and enjoy working within an office environment that is mission-driven and team-oriented. The Operations Assistant shall have the ability to exercise sound judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written, and oral communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The Operations Assistant will have the ability to work independently on projects, from conception to completion, and must be able to work at times in the high-stress environment of major incidents and handle a wide variety of activities, law enforcement sensitive, and confidential matters with discretion. The Operations Assistant will is required to occasionally respond to major incidents, natural disasters, or crime scenes at all hours to provide administrative support to the personnel of the Operations Division. Other duties are required as directed by the commander of the division.
High school diploma or GED required. College degrees in business, legal studies, criminal justice, or emergency management are preferred.
Honorable military experience or previous law enforcement employment preferred.
Must possess or be able to obtain NIMS (ICS 100), (ICS 700) within sixty (60) days of employment.
The Operations Assistant must be professional, courteous, have strong computer skills, keyboarding skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, good cognitive skills, work with a high level of accuracy, and must be able to readily identify and maintain confidential information. This position must also meet physical requirements to perform the essential tasks of a runner at a command post if needed. This includes running, stooping, bending, stretching, twisting, kneeling, crawling, squatting, jumping, climbing and being able to lift 50 lbs from the ground to waist height. This position must be able to pass an extensive background check, a drug test (and will be subject to random drug testing), this is considered a safety sensitive position and must sign and abide by a confidentiality agreement.
