The Christian County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has been awarded CARES Act funding to address caseload backlog created due to the pandemic. There are immediate openings for two full-time experienced Assistant Prosecuting Attorneys. The contract APAs will be given a caseload of cases currently set on jury and bench trial dockets. The APAs will be responsible to prepare and try these cases or dispose of through plea. In addition to representing the State of Missouri in any bench or jury trials, the APAs will cover court dockets, depositions, pretrial conferences and any other hearing or motion related to the assigned caseload. One of the APAs will be assigned a felony caseload. The other APA will be assigned a misdemeanor caseload.
It is required the candidates will have a minimum of five (5) years of prosecutions experience. It is required the candidate has tried at least 15 felony jury trials as a prosecutor serving as the first chair. Preferably the candidates will have previous experience with the PbK case management system.
The successful candidates must be able to pass a background check and a drug screening. These are safety sensitive positions and will be subject to random drug screening.
The contract rate for these positions is between $11,434.67/month and $12,864.00/month. There are NO benefits with this position. This is a temporary contract position. The contract will end on December 31, 2020.
